Colleen, from Em and Colleen Travel on the Gold Coast, has shared with us the adorable story of her parents, who are currently stuck in quarantine on the Diamond Princess, in Japan.
Coronavirus is pretty terrifying and disease hysteria is taking over the world. Sometimes it feels like we’re drowning in doom and gloom, so it’s always nice to read something a little more lighthearted and fun.
Dave and Jan Binskin are currently being quarantined on the Princess ship in Yokohama, Japan, with 136 passengers on board testing positive for the virus.
As you can imagine, it must be extremely boring and disheartening, being stuck in a cabin for two weeks with not a lot to do, and the added fear of falling ill in the back of your mind.
Some passengers have claimed that time is passing by slowly and it feels very isolating…
Cue D&J and their wonderfully upbeat outlook on a positively rubbish situation.
Cabin fever fun
I want to thank everyone for your beautiful messages of support and concern for my Mum & Dad onboard the quarantined Diamond Princess Cruise Ship in Japan they have just sent us this video, either it's cabin fever, they have completely lost their minds or this is couple goals to what nearly 50 years of marriage will do in supporting each other and seeing the brightside to an unfortunate situation ❤️ Colleen xo #feelgoodtravelstory #brightside #couplegoals #emandcolleentravel

Dave and Jan went viral the other day after getting in touch with their wine club, who offered to deliver them a couple of bottles of vino by drone!
The couple had been in their cabin for three days before the boredom really sunk in. And, let’s face it, wine often helps in these kinds of situations!
The couple currently has just over a week left on board in quarantine and is passing the time by having their own private in-cabin dance party.
Colleen has been receiving videos from her parents, passing the time with these fun little bursts of energy.
The above video was posted on the Agency’s Facebook page with the caption:

As we’ve been writing this article, we’ve received the latest installment of Dave and Jan’s cabin dance party:
Colleen also told Karryon that “Princess has been amazing” to the guests onboard the Diamond Princess and her parents have not been put off cruising. In fact, they have another cruise booked with Princess, through the Panama Canal in May!
Keep being awesome Dave & Jan!
Diamond Princess Update
