UK based small group adventure company Explore is ramping up its presence in the Australian market by launching a brand new range of adventure trips tailor-made for Aussie families.

UK based small group adventure company Explore is ramping up its presence in the Australian market by launching a brand new range of adventure trips tailor-made for Aussie families.

We spoke to Explore’s Head of Sales, Ben Ittensohn during his trip Down Under last week about Explore’s 2019 plans.

Ben said while Explore had always had an expansive family range, this upcoming range marked the first time it would be showcased in a brochure to the Australian trade.

“Our insights showed the need for our family range to brought to Australia. We’re seeing families looking for real memories. Trips they can have with their kids.”

“Typically when you go away on your family holiday you’ve got to keep the kids entertained. On a trip with us the tour guide is doing all the organisation,” Ben explained.

Explore’s maximum group size is 18 and the average group size 12. Travellers as young as 7 are welcomed on to the trips.

“We typically have two families as a minimum and try to book kids of similar ages.”

There will be 12 Australian family focused trips with itineraries heading to countries including Thailand Sri Lanka, Maldives, Costa Rica and Jordan.

These departures will align with the Australian school holidays.

A family adventure in Sri Lanka includes searching for leopards in Wilpattu National Park, staying overnight in a tented safari camp and cycling the backroads to discover ancient Buddhist cities in ancient Polonnaruwa.

The trip will give travellers the chance to raft the white waters of the Central Highlands before relaxing on the white sandy beaches of this tropical paradise known as ‘Buddha’s Island’.

An important note for Australian Travel Advisors is that Adventure World is Explore’s GSA in Australia and New Zealand.

“They are our partners on the ground. Think of them as an extension of us.”
