The Fortum Singalong Shuttle debuted in Finland over the weekend at the 49th Ruisrock rock festival in Turku.

The brainchild behind this quirky concept is Fortum, a clean-energy company that has converted a series of BMW i3 electric cars into emission-free taxis.

Fortum’s Brand Manager Jussi Mälkiä says through these karaoke-powered taxis, Fortum is trying to promote a cleaner, greener world.

“We want to show people in a joyful way how comfortable and easy it is to drive an electric car… the silent electric cars make it possible to enjoy singing without background noise and emissions.”

When passengers take one of these rides they will be asked to choose a song from a tablet and SING!

It doesn’t matter if you’re butchering the song or if you can hold a tune perfectly. All that matters is that you KEEP SINGING because if you stop singing your ride stops too. Literally. The engine shuts off.

HA!

Fortum is one of the largest clean energy providers in the Nordics and regularly supports eco-friendly events in Finland.
