Insight Vacations is shaking up its central Mediterranean operations by giving Malta a standalone itinerary for the first time.

Easy Pace Malta was introduced as one of 96 itineraries in the brand’s 2019 Europe & Britain Collection after seeing strong demand for the destination among past guests.

Insight Vacations’ Chief Executive, Ulla Hefel Böhler, told KARRYON that in recent years, more than 50 percent of guests travelling on the Sicily In-depth itinerary would also opt for a three-night Malta extension. There was also growing interest among travellers to buy extra nights beyond the three-night package.

She described this pattern as obvious interest to explore the destination that’s being met with a standalone six-day itinerary.

“We found that it’s really time for Malta to have its own itinerary.”

Highlights of the Easy Pace Malta itinerary include a stroll by Spinola Bay, a visit to St John’s Cathedral in Valletta and a chance to experience the temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra.

Outside of Malta, Insight Vacations has also increased its portfolio in Greece for 2019, including the addition of the new Greek Island Hopper itinerary starting in Athens and featuring four nights in Mykonos and Santorini.

For the first time next year, travellers will also be able to experience Scandinavia during winter with Insight Vacations via the brand’s inaugural Northern Lights of Scandinavia itinerary.

Ulla said the brand challenged itself to introduce a winter offering for Scandinavia after operating “very successful” guided vacations during the warmer periods.

“I am fully expecting the itinerary to sell out because it really is the best of the best that you can do in Scandinavia during winter.”
