Tempo Holidays has become the latest tour operator to announce it’s taking its guests to experience the amazing culture and delicious flavours of Iran.

The tour operator revealed this week it would return to the often destination after a five-year hiatus.

The announcement comes as other operators launch or return to the country, including APT which added Iran’s capital, Tehran, to a brand new Jewels of Persia itinerary.

Visits to Iran will resume in March next year and will focus on adventure touring.

Guests will be able to experience the country’s historical and cultural diversity by visiting numerous ancient palaces, temples, villages and cities.

There’ll also be opportunities to explore cliff-face rock tombs and visit the looming Towers of Silence in Yazd – an ancient structure used by Zorostrians to dispose of the dead without touching earth or fire.

Damian Perry, Tempo Holidays’ CEO, said Iran is of great interest right now, especially after ongoing negotiations with the US.

“Iran represents an important historical and cultural centre, and travellers are eager to experience the stunning landscapes, exotic treasures, and fascinating history of the region.”

The first itinerary for Iran is a 14-day Treasures of Iran trip. The tour takes guests through ancient Persia and right through to modern day Iran.

Guests will visit the lush Naranjestan gardens in Shiraz as well as the Naqsh-e Rustam, the home of a bygone necropolis and spectacular cliff-face rock tombs.

They’ll stop by the tranquil mountainside village of Abyaneh, the bustling capital of Tehran and grandiose city of Isfahan.
