With Carnival Luminosa heading back to the Sunshine State in under 50 days, the cruise line is recruiting Queensland’s bright sparks to create a brand-new flag that will fly aboard the ship for her entire Aussie season.

Homeporting in Brisbane, Queenslanders will have the chance to claim Carnival Luminosa as their own with a homegrown flag design.

The ship returns to Brisbane on 15 October 2023 with the new Queensland ‘Flag of Fun’ revealed in an official flag-raising ceremony, marking the start of the summer cruise season.

Queensland locals can submit a photo depicting how they ‘Choose Fun’ by 10 September 2023 here for inclusion.

The new flag mosaic design will combine the submissions, inspired by Queensland, for Queensland.

Carnival Cruise Line VP Kara Glamore said: “At Carnival, we’ve always flown the flag of fun but now we’re excited to do this more literally.”

“Since our first departure from Brisbane in October 2022, Queenslanders have welcomed Carnival Luminosa with open arms.

“Making our Queensland guests an integral part of the ship felt natural and we can’t wait to see all of the ways they choose fun with the new flag.”

After the US summer season, Carnival Luminosa starts her official return to Brisbane on 14 September 2023 with a 31-day voyage from Seattle.

The cruise ship will offer 30 departures from Brisbane from October 2023 to April 2024. Carnival Luminosa set sail on her inaugural Australian season in November 2022.
