Contiki Celebrates First International Trip Since The Pandemic Began

Following a lengthy one-year separation of the Trans-Tasman nations, the first international Contiki trip is finally set to hit the road this week with an exclusive trip for Australian Gen Z travellers embarking on their Gap Year in New Zealand.

Following a lengthy one-year separation of the Trans-Tasman nations, the first international Contiki trip is finally set to hit the road this week with an exclusive trip for Australian Gen Z travellers embarking on their Gap Year in New Zealand.

With 11 action-packed trips on offer, Contiki says it’s ready to help young people travel together again and make the most of their holiday in New Zealand, with many young Aussies having already locked in their Contiki trips around the North and South Islands for upcoming holidays.

To kick off their New Zealand departures, Contiki will run a special one-day trip in Auckland with Letz Live. Since 2005, Letz Live have created overseas Gap Year and Working Holiday experiences for thousands of young people. Now, for the very first time, Letz Live are partnering with Contiki to bring together 17 excited young travellers when they touch down in New Zealand this week.

Fancy a gap year?

The youth of Australia are raring to go, with many rushing to book their first international holiday in more than a year as soon as Jacinda Ardern confirmed that the bubble would open.

It’s not surprising, considering in Contiki’s recent Voice of a Generation survey an incredible 63% of millennials and Gen Z said they couldn’t wait to travel in 2021 – with 25% saying they wanted to take a Gap Year or sabbatical to make up for lost time.

“We are so excited to finally make this happen and get Aussies across the ditch and back on the road! We know most millennials and Gen Z want the opportunity to travel together again, with the freedom and flexibility to be social whether travelling solo, with friends or a partner,” says Katrina Barry, Managing Director of Contiki in Australia.

“There’s nothing more empowering than getting outside of your ‘bubble’, meeting new people and making new friends. To experience those magic moments that travel brings and to leave with memories that will stay with them forever, it’s on everyone’s mind.”

Nick Hare, Managing Director and Company Founder of Letz Live welcomed the bubble opening with true excitement, With the opening of the Trans-Tasman bubble it’s fantastic that we’ve been able to bring gap year participants from Australia back to New Zealand so quickly, with a further group arriving in mid-July.

“Young people are eager to travel and A gap year in New Zealand is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We’re thrilled to be partnering alongside Contiki, the leading global youth travel brand who like Letz Live put the health and safety of their clients as their highest priority.”
