‘One hell of a successful year’: ATMC celebrates a big 2022

The Association of Travel Management Companies (ATMC) has marked a prosperous 2022 with an end-of-year celebration - and an eye on an even bigger 2023.

The Association of Travel Management Companies (ATMC) has marked a prosperous 2022 with an end-of-year celebration – and an eye on an even bigger 2023.

As it looks to bolster its profile even further next year, the group finished 2022 with its Annual General Meeting (AGM), Christmas drinks, and tributes to a couple of former ATMC luminaries.

During its get-together, Tass Messinis was re-elected as ATMC chair, while Kay Shrimpton (BCD), Alan Wolf (Bay Travel), Glenn Wilcox (CTM), Penny Spencer (Spencer Travel) and David Goldman (Goldman Travel) were re-elected to the committee. American Express Global Business Travel’s Danielle Russom also joined the board as a new member.

Additionally, ATMC paid special tribute to retiring board member and former chair Rob Dell, who helped steer the group through the pandemic, and former executive director Ollie Tams, who since February 2020 worked pro-bono.

ATMC aims to evolve its offering by enabling, implementing and sustaining change in line with its recently released Model for Change.

ATMC represents Australia’s top 22 corporate travel agencies, who between them control over $6.5 billion in travel expenditure.

The critical role of TMCs

ATMC chair Tass Messinis said it was “an absolute honour to be re-appointed as chair of the ATMC”.

“It’s also an important validation of our focus on building ATMC’s reputation and profile as we continue our collaborations with suppliers and partners to deliver outcomes that benefit our members and the industry,” Messinis said.

“There are multiple transformations at play in the corporate travel landscape and ATMC has an increasingly important role as the independent voice for TMCs including with corporates and with suppliers.

“We have made great progress already in terms of raising the critical role TMCs play in supporting and optimising travel procurement and supporting corporate travellers through the complexities of travel.

“ATMC thanks all our members and our supporters for what has been one hell of a successful year and we are even more excited to hit the ground running in 2023.”
