‘Sail on a Viking Cruises ship’ – if it’s on the bucket list then here’s your chance to tick it off without travelling halfway around the globe to do so.
Viking Cruises has confirmed it is sending its first ship to Australia during its inaugural World Cruise.
The line’s forthcoming 930-passenger vessel, Viking Sun, will be the ship to make the grand 141-day journey when she launches next year.
The five continent itinerary starts in Miami, taking guests to 35 countries and 66 ports.
One of the biggest highlights of the trip will be the line’s first call in Havana, Cuba where guests will have two days to take in the culture, food and spirit.
More importantly for locals, Viking Sun will stop by Oceania with an overnight stay in Auckland plus an overnight visit to Sydney.
In addition to giving locals more choice during the 2017/18 wave season, Sun’s arrival will also give Aussies the chance to cruise on a ship with a Snow Grotto and a Wintergarden.
Two unique features of the vessels, the Snow Grotto is located within the LivNordic Spa, a traditional Nordic spa designed with the holistic wellness philosophy of Scandinavia in mind.
As well as the usual treatments and sauna, the Spa also has the Snow Grotto where snowflakes actually descend from the ceiling through chilled air.
Guests looking for a little more serenity will also get to try The Wintergarden, a space for tea service located under a canopy of Scandinavian trellised wood.
Plus the ship features a first-of-its-kind glass-backed Infinity Pool, located at the stern of the ship. They’ll literally feel like their swimming away from their surroundings.
Other highlights of the vessel include multiple restaurant and food choices such as the World Cafe with international dishes; The Chef’s Table or there’s Italian favourites at Manfredi’s. Plus there’s the line’s Enriching Entertainment that connects guests to authentic experiences in each destination they visit.
