If you’re a fan of Royal Caribbean and you’ve attended a few of their local events then you’d be very familiar with the lovely Gavin Smith and Adam Armstrong.
They’ve headed up the cruise line’s local operations together since 2009 (except for that time Adam moved to Asia for around a year) and have been responsible for bringing more of the bigger ships to our shores.
Now it looks like the dynamic duo may be parting ways, with Smith receiving a BIG promotion to Senior Vice President International.
Effective immediately, he will oversee all sales, marketing and commercial operations for Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Australasia.
As part of the promotion, he will need to relocate and will report to Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.
Great work Gavin!
Meanwhile, Armstrong received his own big promotion to Managing Director, RCL Cruises Australia and New Zealand.
He’ll report to Smith and will be responsible for the business operations of Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises in the region.
Speaking on the news, Smith said it was a “real pleasure” to build the Australian and New Zealand markets with Armstrong and expects he will do “a tremendous job leading the team and continuing to drive growth across all three” brands.
An announcement regarding Armstrong’s vacated role of Regional Commercial Director will be made in due course.
