AT SEA FIRSTS: 3 Exciting Things Regent's Next Ship Will Bring To Cruising

'At sea first' - when was the last time you heard that phrase? It has been a while & that's because it's almost impossible for cruise lines to top what they're already packing on their ships.

‘At sea first’ – when was the last time you heard that phrase? It has been a while & that’s because it’s almost impossible for cruise lines to top what they’re already packing on their ships.

But alas, Regent Seven Seas Cruises has resurrected the term ‘at sea first’ for its next ship, Seven Seas Splendor.

Ahead of the vessel’s debut in February 2020, the cruise line’s Lisa Pile has revealed the ship will set sail with not only one new-to-cruise feature but seven!

So strap on your orange life vest, it’s time for a rundown of the at-sea firsts to be found on the forthcoming ship:

1. A suite with a US$200,000 hand-crafted bed

‘Comfortable’ would be a complete understatement.

Splendor of the Seas’ ‘Regent Suite’ will be the most luxurious residence on the ocean with a US$200,000 hand-crafted bed. Legit!

According to the cruise line, the bed was built by Hastens and took 300 hours to construct!

Inside the suite (which is apparently twice as large as the average Australian home), the specially-designed will be complemented with a 30 percent larger master bath and in-suite space, a floor-to-ceiling ocean-view shower, and a Treesse mini pool spa located on the balcony.

“The Regent Suite is the crown jewel in Regent’s accommodation offering, with no expense spared to ensure that we are providing our guests with the most luxurious residence at sea.”

Lisa Pile, Regent Seven Seas Cruises Vice President, General Manager

2. Female Captain launching a brand new ship

You’ve met her on KARRYON already. Her name is Serena Melani and she’s about to do what no other female has.

In February 2020, Serena will take the helm of Seven Seas Splendor, making her the first women in cruise history to captain a new cruise ship.

Having spent the last three decades in the industry, Serena told KARRYON that she’s proud to be a pioneer in the industry and help pave the way for other women.

3. An overwater dining experience

If the popularity of Princess Cruises’ Seawalk tell us one thing, it’s that people love to be able to see the ocean beneath them.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises is taking this love and turning it into an overwater eating experience.

Sette Mari will serve authentic Mediterranean food in an over-water alcove. Guests will feel closer to the sea and, according to the cruise line, “never forget this brand-new dining experience”.

“The new over-water alcove seating at Sette Mari at La Veranda will see guests seated out over the water for an even closer connection to the sea, surrounded by stunning panoramic views,” Pile said.
