More than 600 couples were the first to say “I do…again” as Carnival Cruise Line orchestrated a fleetwide vow renewal at sea ceremony on 14 February 2024, starting on Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Splendor and officiated by none other than Chief Fun Officer and former NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
Carnival Luminosa, homeported in Brisbane for the summer season, and Carnival Splendor, sailing year-round from Sydney, kicked off the commitment reaffirmation as real-life ‘love boats’.
The annual vow renewal ceremony occurs on Valentine’s Day across all Carnival Cruise Line ships sailing from the South Pacific to the Caribbean. This year’s event was bigger than ever with the addition of Carnival Venezia and Carnival Jubilee.

Guests were invited to celebrate their recommitment to each other with a vow renewal ceremony followed by an onboard reception, including a DJ and a toast to celebrate the newly renewed couples.

Carnival also offers a variety of ceremonies at sea or on beautiful destinations through the Weddings by Carnival program. Last year, more than 1,220 weddings and vow renewals took place.
Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy said: “We have a team of experienced planners who make it their mission to ensure unforgettable celebrations between loved ones and their friends and families.”

“People meet, get engaged and get married on Carnival cruise ships. Our Valentine’s Day vow renewals are an extension of how couples love to cruise with Carnival and we’re delighted to offer this ceremony to more guests than ever before.”
