Fresh from dry dock in Singapore, Carnival Splendor shared a sneak peek of her new livery with a special significant detail.
Carnival Splendor now features the red, white, and blue hull design introduced in 2021 along with a Southern Cross symbol that incorporates the signature P&O Australia marking to signify the brand joining Carnival Cruise Line in 2025.
The Southern Cross constellation historically helped early sailors find their way to Australia and became one of the nation’s first symbols.
By incorporating the Southern Cross, Carnival Splendor will share that heritage with soon-to-be sister ships Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter, renamed Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter.
The revamped P&O ships will also receive technology and system upgrades ahead of joining the Carnival Cruise Line (CCL) fleet in March 2025.
In June, CCL announced that P&O Cruises Australia operations will transition into the Carnival Cruise Line brand next year.
However, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy told Karryon that the merging of the famous brand into CCL would not mean a major departure from the popular P&O Australia-style cruising
In anticipation of the changeover, CCL has been communicating with and offering positions to thousands of P&O Cruises Australia crew members along with a nationwide ad campaign announcing the name change.
After completing dry dock in Singapore and along with the new livery, Carnival Splendor will return to service in Sydney on 9 September 2024 with several exciting upgrades to be revealed.
Sailing year-round from her Sydney homeport, the ship joined the Carnival fleet in late 2019. Carnival Luminosa will also return to Australia in October 2024.
