Ignite Travel Group (My Cruises) CEO Ryan Thomas explains why the company’s Cruise Agency of the Year (Large) win at the CLIA Australasia Cruise Industry Awards was an “unbelievable achievement”, the big move the group has planned in the next couple of years, and his recent “bucket list” cruise experience.
You’re the Large Cruise Agency of the Year! How does that feel?
Absolutely incredible. It is a real testament to the amazing team we have here. We have only been selling cruise for six years now – with over two years of that period disrupted by COVID – and to now be the Large Cruise Agency of the year is an unbelievable achievement.
Competition was fierce. To what do you attribute your big win?
The passion our team has for cruising drives everything we do. It really comes through in the product and packages we get to market and the way we work so closely with the cruise lines to deliver exceptional products for our customers.
What are you most excited about that’s coming up for cruising?
All the new ships being launched across the globe by all of the different cruise lines. The industry keeps evolving and bringing out more incredible ships every year with a strong pipeline of more to come.
And what’s coming up for Ignite?
We plan on going international over the next couple of years, launching our business in the UK and USA.
What do you love most about cruising and the cruise industry?
I love exploring new parts of the world, staying in amazing facilities the whole time without having to continually pack and unpack. It is a genuinely incredible way to holiday.
What’s your most memorable cruise experience?
Last year I got to tick amazing Iceland off my bucket list – what an incredible and mystical part of the world.
