Since relaunching in April 2024, Cruiseabout is riding the wave of success by opening its latest brick-and-mortar store in Westfield West Lakes – its first shopfront in Adelaide and South Australia and the brand’s third retail location in Australia.
Flight Centre Travel Group’s flagship retail cruise brand also opened stores in Gold Coast and Perth this year after a five-year absence. FCTG announced the relaunch of the Cruiseabout brand in Australia in August 2023.
The decision to dock the latest store in Adelaide was due to the size and potential of the market with more than 47,000 South Australians enjoying a cruise in 2023.
Cruiseabout General Manager Brad Kennedy said the opening marks another milestone in the brand’s strong re-entry into market with parent company Ignite Travel Group.
“We’ve seen fantastic success in our existing Gold Coast and Perth stores and we’re keen to see this replicated in our new Adelaide shopfront as we welcome our first customers,” he said.
“Cruising is increasingly becoming a top holiday choice globally and we’re continuing to book holidays for both long-time and first-time cruisers, which is really exciting.”
Ignite Travel Group CEO Ryan Thomas said cruise is one of the fastest-growing travel segments globally and expansion is key to tapping into this market.
“Cruising has been a key contributor to our growth over the past 12 months and we don’t see any signs of slowing down as we continue to welcome new cruisers and suppliers,” he said.
“With 50 new cruise ships sailing the water in the next five years globally, the capacity and opportunity is huge.”
