Dutch shipbuilders Damen have just been commissioned to create one of the most epic superyachts you could envision. To give you some idea of the scale, the boat will be 252 feet with not just one helicopter, but two.
SeaXplorer 77 is being built for a very wealthy client who wishes to remain anonymous.
We have a few clues about the kind of guy he is though.
He loves the outdoors and will be using the duo of helicopters for heliskiing and landing in remote places.
In a rather odd comment, he has been quoted on the Daily Mail UK as saying “some people think that fans of outdoor activities should stay in fleabag motels and dry their wet socks on radiators.”
Do you think that’s what people who like the outdoors get up to? Because it’s not the first thing that comes to mind for me.
“I believe that you can combine the most active outdoor adventures and sports with ultimate comfort.”
Annonymous client
Anonymous rich client is taking that pairing to all new heights.
His new luxury cruiser will have room for 25 crew members and 12 passengers with six opulent suites. Naturally, there will be jacuzzis, a spa, and a gym.
Panoramic lounges will ensure that guests can take in the outside environment wherever the ship is sailing
There will also be a large room to store ski equipment, snowmobiles and other sporting gear. No wet socks on radiators to be seen.
There will be huge helideck and an enclosed hangar to protect them from the elements.
Because adventure is this wealthy suitor’s middle name the yacht will be built with a reinforced ice-class hull and it will be able to operate for 40 days at sea without refueling.
The SeaXplorer 77 is set to be completed in 2020 but Damen won’t be drawn on the cost of the luxury cruiser.
