It’s not homeporting, but it’s pretty close. Princess Cruises will make history during the 2017/18 wave season when it operates its first cruise FROM Adelaide.
Golden Princess will make the historic trip when she leaves the city on a 17-night international cruise to New Zealand on 8 January 2018.
This is good news for Adelaideans who’ll be able to hop on a cruise ship straight from their doorstep rather than boarding a plane to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and then setting off on their cruise holiday.
It’s also in line with homeporting trends in Australia, where cruise lines send their vessels to cruise from various ports around the country.
Golden Princess’ first cruise from Adelaide will call at Melbourne, Dunedin, Akaroa, Wellington, Gisborne, Tauranga and Auckland. Guests will also enjoy scenic cruising through the stunning Fiordland National Park.
The cruise is one of 25 roundtrip cruises to New Zealand featured in the summer program, with Princess continuing to offer the biggest range of Trans-Tasman departures from cities around Australia.
During the season, Princess will make maiden visits to South Australia’s Kangaroo Island and Port Lincoln as part of a six-night Golden Princess cruise from Melbourne or a four-night cruise from Adelaide to Melbourne.
Other highlights for the 2017/18 program include the return of Diamond Princess to Sydney for a summer of cruising, joining Golden Princess, Sea Princess and Sun Princess to offer cruises from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle and Auckland.
