When P&O’s bosses said they were planning a big spectacle for the arrival of Pacific Eden and Pacific Aria they weren’t kidding.
The Australian cruise line is so excited its fleet will increase to five in November this year, it has recruited some of Australia’s biggest music acts to help welcome the new vessels.
Jessica Mauboy, The Veronicas, Samantha Jade, Justice Crew and Stan Walker will headline a musical extravaganza when all five P&O ships sail into Sydney Harbour on the 25th.
The music portion of the celebration will start from mid-afternoon and run into the evening with the five acts performing some their biggest hits.
Some 9,000 passengers onboard Pacific Eden, Pacific Aria, Pacific Jewel, Pacific Dawn and Pacific Pearl will also enjoy music from 20 other live music acts plus 10 DJs across the ships.
Following the concert, guests onboard the ships will enjoy the biggest white party at sea with the cruise line overseeing a mass production of its new Bianco event on the top decks of all five ships.
And if that wasn’t enough to convince me, uhhh cruisers, to want to get onboard for the spectacular, P&O has also arranged for its vessels to form a special V off the heads before they sail in single file into the Harbour.
The P&O parade will mark the arrival of the line’s two latest ships, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, which will be officially named as they sail by Sydney’s Fort Denison together after arriving in the Harbour.
The cruise line will announce details of the ceremony and the ships’ godmothers at a later date.
P&O Cruises Senior Vice President Sture Myrmell said Sydney has never before hosted five cruise ships on the same day.
To celebrate the historic moment, a spectacular firework finale will light up the night sky above the cruise cavalcade.
“This will be like no party on earth and is sure to become an iconic moment in Sydney Harbour’s history as well as providing lasting memories for the thousands of guests onboard.”
Sture Myrmell, P&O Cruises Senior Vice President
