As demand for cruises to the Mediterranean continues to grow, MSC Cruises has nine ships calling into the region for the European summer.

The ships will visit both iconic destinations and off-the-beaten-track destinations from May to October.

A taste of Spain

There are two seven-night itineraries in Valencia, Spain on Spain’s eastern coast, at the mouth of the Turia River, on board MSC Fantasia and MSC Seaside. Here guests can walk cobblestone streets in the Old Town and watch local life from Playa de Las Arenas beach.

Six ships will be visiting Spain’s popular city of Barcelona brimming with art, including Gaudí’s masterpiece Casa Batlló, while in nearby El Raval, guests can enjoy the eclectic bars and boutiques that have flourished in the wake of the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art.

MSC Musica and MSC Seaside will head to Spain’s laid-back island of Ibiza for Spanish nightlife and where guests can explore Ciutat d’Eivissa, the most charming town on the island, featuring the UNESCO-listed old quarter of Dalt Vila.

MSC Orchestra will head into the 3,000-year-old Spanish city of Cádiz – the oldest city in Western Europe. While nature enthusiasts can explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Doñana National Park.

Other itineraries include Sicily’s capital of Palermo where guests can immerse in the history of the island, such as the 18th-century Palazzo d’Orleans and Palermo’s opera house, Teatro Massimo and impressive Baroque churches. And Naples and nearby Pompeii, the town frozen in time from the volcanic eruption in AD 79.

Two ships will also visit the French city of Cannes, to take in the beaches and upscale shops along the famed Boulevard de la Croisette and the city’s old town, Le Suquet.
