The eagerly anticipated MSC World America was officially unveiled at a celeb-heavy naming ceremony at the brand-new PortMiami hub on 10 April 2025, featuring Godmother Drew Barrymore and campaign ambassador Orlando Bloom.
The ceremony was held at MSC Cruises‘ just-opened, state-of-the-art, 46,000sqm MSC Miami Cruise Terminal with the Hollywood actor and eponymous host of The Drew Barrymore Show naming the ship in a ribbon-cutting and bottle-breaking maritime tradition.
Barrymore was joined by actor Orlando Bloom, her co-star in MSC Cruises’ ‘Let’s Holiday’ campaign that debuted during the Big Game earlier this year.

Barrymore said: “It’s such an honour to be MSC World America’s Godmother. I’ve had a lifelong passion for travel, which has always fuelled my soul and left me with the most awesome memories.”
“Millions of people will create their own memories aboard this beautiful ship as time goes by and I know they’ll have a blast experiencing everything MSC World America has to offer.”

The naming ceremony also featured a range of live entertainment, speeches and onboard events to highlight the ship’s game-changing attributes, culminating with a drone and fireworks display over the Miami skyline.
Guests will then embark on a two-night celebratory journey to the cruise line’s private island in the Bahamas – Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve – including an inauguration ceremony for its new Marine Conservation Centre.

MSC World America is the first ship in the fleet to feature seven onboard districts, each with its own atmosphere, facilities and experiences.
MSC World America will depart for her first cruise on 12 April 2025 and spend her inaugural season sailing from PortMiami, offering alternating seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries with all sailings including a visit to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
