Expanding its partnership with not-for-profit organisation Take 3 for the Sea, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) will offer a free beach clean-up shore excursion in Eden, NSW to guests aboard Norwegian Spirit’s inaugural cruise season Down Under.
NCL will also encourage passengers to “take three for the sea” at each port of call Down Under.
The cruise line has partnered with Take 3 for the Sea to help the organisation reach its ambitious goal of removing 50 million pieces of plastic from the environment by 2025.
The first NCL ship to sail in the region in three years, Norwegian Spirit’s maiden call to Eden on NSW’s Sapphire Coast on 23 December 2022 will also be the first port of call during the ship’s 12-day Trans-Tasman Christmas cruise.
With a Take 3 for the Sea expert, the Eden beach clean-up will allow passengers to help the community as they learn about the hidden impact of plastic pollution on oceans and wildlife.
Eden was selected for the launch to give back to this regional community to kick-start the Christmas season while contributing to the town’s ongoing recovery as a tourism and cruise destination after bushfires and travel restrictions.

NCL APAC VP and Managing Director Ben Angell said the shore excursion was a milestone moment for the brand.
“We are absolutely elated to expand our partnership with Take for the Sea and to bring this shore excursion to life in an inspiring first for NCL,” he said.
“We are committed to driving a positive impact by taking real action to fight plastic pollution, something which would not have been possible without the incredible support we’ve received from the community in Eden and the dedication of our partners at Take 3 for the Sea.”
Take 3 for the Sea CEO Jacquie Riddell said: “We cannot wait to welcome guests of Norwegian Spirit in Eden to join our movement and take simple steps towards significant change.”
“NCL has demonstrated its commitment to ocean conservation through its Sail & Sustain program and beach clean-up activities with its team and travel partners and we’re thrilled to see them take their dedication to the next level by inviting guests to get involved.”
