New APT ship sets sail in Europe

It was a historic moment for a little German town last week where APT’s new river ship was christened before launching on European rivers.

The riverside town of Würzburg in Germany played host to its first ever vessel christening – and the vessel was, APT’s MS AmaVenita.

The town’s mayor, Christian Schuchardt turned up for the event as did APT’s founder Geoff McGeary and his son Group Director Robert McGeary.

Playing the role of godmother to the vessel was Geoff’s wife, Rebekah McGeary, who said a little speech before breaking a bottle of Champagne on the ship’s hull.

Following the christening guests from Australia and New Zealand were entertained by traditional German dancers, folk music and a performance by esteemed soprano Heidelinde Schmid from the Bavarian State Opera.
