Quark Expeditions has swelled its small-ship fleet with the addition of a brand-new, state-of-the-art polar expedition vessel, Ocean Explorer, which sets sail for the 2024/25 Antarctic season and ticks all the boxes for luxury, adventure and leading-edge tech.
Delivered in 2021, the aptly named Ocean Explorer is purpose-built for polar regions with an Ice Class 1A and PC6 rating designed to operate in all conditions without icebreaker assistance, which puts the ship in the same league as her sister ship, the upcoming Ultramarine.
The 138-passenger, Infinity Class ship has a distinctive X-bow design, a two-storey forward lounge and varied cabin options with interior space and comfort that set the stage for polar expeditions.
Onboard amenities include the Compass Restaurant, main dining room and a private dining room; Observation Deck & Solar Bar; Discovery Library; Explorer Presentation Lounge; fitness centre, sauna and jacuzzi; and the Latitude Bar.
Ocean Explorer’s cutting-edge technology includes safety and sustainability features that allow for off-ship adventures that elevate the polar experience from kayaking in Antarctica to flightseeing over the Greenland Ice Sheet.
