Running rings around the fleet, Viking’s newest ocean ship Viking Saturn was delivered at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Italy recently ahead of an official naming ceremony to be held in New York City on 6 June 2023.
It was also announced that Viking Saturn will be named by her ceremonial godmother, Ann Ziff, a philanthropist and Chair of the Metropolitan Opera – a longtime Viking cultural partner.
Following the naming ceremony, the ship will spend her maiden summer season sailing two new voyages: Iconic Iceland, Greenland & Canada, between New York City and Reykjavik, and Iceland & Norway’s Arctic Explorer, between Reykjavik and Bergen.
The delivery of the Viking Saturn comes as Viking celebrates its 25th anniversary, including its most successful single month of bookings in January 2023.

Viking Saturn is the newest ship in Viking’s award-winning ocean fleet of identical sister ships.
The ocean vessels have 465 all-veranda staterooms that host 930 guests with Scandinavian design, light-filled public spaces and abundant alfresco dining options.
In January 2023, Viking welcomed another new ocean ship, Viking Neptune, into service with a naming ceremony in Los Angeles.
Since 2020, Viking has added 17 new ships to its fleet, including eight new Viking Longships for European river voyages; purpose-built vessels on the Mekong, Nile and Mississippi rivers, including the Viking Aton; four identical ocean ships; and two Polar Class expedition vessels.
