New Antarctic adventure company Terra Nova Expeditions has launched with a budget-friendly, immersive approach to polar exploration through world-first and inclusive experiences.
Helmed by Chimu Adventures Co-Founder Greg Carter, his new venture will offer departures from December 2026 aboard the 98-passenger expedition ship and former mail ship, St Helena.
The 51-cabin ship has an onboard science lab and is tailored to the budget traveller with bookings now open for immersive journeys priced from USD$8,790 to make the Antarctic more accessible and provide more time ashore.

That’s not to say St Helena doesn’t offer creature comforts with expansive lounges and observation areas, newly updated cabins and suites with ocean views, two Jacuzzis, a gym and a spa on board.
All-inclusive trip costs include drinks at meals, onboard yoga and wellness, Wi-Fi and gratuities plus a range of adventure activities, such as snowshowing, kayaking, Zodiac cruises, hiking and camping on select voyages.

Terra Nova Expeditions will also introduce some world and industry firsts, such as day sailing in Antarctica, allowing passengers to explore from aboard a second vessel, cruise-and-sail combos – an intimate experience for up to seven passengers to sail in Antarctica, without crossing the Drake passage under sail, and See-LEVEL VR headsets to reduce seasickness.

Carter said Terra Nova Expeditions was created for those seeking more than a vacation and provides one of the best-value trips to Antarctica.
“It offers a journey of discovery, adventure and connection with one of the most awe-inspiring and remote corners of the world.”
“Sustainability is core to the mission at Terra Nova with a strong emphasis on lower passenger numbers per voyage than the majority of the other operators,” he said.

The independent venture has assembled a team of expedition experts, including new Chief Commercial Officer Beth Mercier (formerly Quark Expeditions Global Head of Sales) and seasoned onboard and ashore staff from across the polar travel sector.
