The Travelmarvel Vega river vessel sustained damage in a shipping incident with a cargo ship near Amsterdam on 30 March 2023 however, no passengers were on board at the time and no crew were injured during the occurrence.
Travelmarvel guests scheduled to sail on the Vega could not embark as planned with alternate arrangements made for affected passengers.
In a statement, parent company APT Travel Group said personnel from its Australia, UK and Europe offices along with staff in Amsterdam were on the ground coordinating with guests.
Passengers have a choice of alternate cruises, alternate departure points for other cruises, on-travel to their next destination or repatriation flights home.

In Amsterdam, APT Travel Group CEO David Cox said: “Our teams around the globe have been working tirelessly round the clock over the last three days. The result has been incredible – all going above and beyond in very difficult circumstances to deliver the best outcomes for our guests.”
“We are highly disappointed in this disruption to our scheduled season due to an accident outside our control. We are working hard to ensure that the next departures will go ahead as scheduled,” he said.
The Travelmarvel Vega was en route to Amsterdam to commence the European river cruising season on 31 March 2023. The brand-new river ship embarked on her maiden voyage in May 2022.
