Viking introduces three new China itineraries in 2024 and will be the first cruise line to offer domestic sailings in China for international travellers to rarely visited coastal ports aboard its Chinese-flagged ship.
The three new itineraries range from 10 to 20 days and explore cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, along with rarely-seen destinations and ports off China’s coast.
These include the 20-day Wonders of China cruise-tour roundtrip from Beijing, a 15-day Classic China & the Coast voyage from Beijing, Xian to Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and a 10-day China Discovery itinerary from Shanghai to Hong Kong (Shenzhen).
The new voyages will operate from September to November aboard Viking Yi Dun (formerly the Viking Sun) – a sister ship featuring the same design and service as all other ocean ships in the fleet.
Viking Yi Dun is specifically dedicated to exploring destinations in China with an onboard experience that complements guests’ discoveries ashore.
Cruisers can expect immersive experiences that introduce China’s people, history and culture, including insightful lectures, Chinese-inspired cuisine and destination experts.
Chair Torstein Hagen said: “We are proud to be the first to operate domestic sailings in China for international travellers.”
“For more than 15 years, our Yangtze River voyages were among our highest-rated itineraries. We brought guests to China’s Yangtze River, Beijing, the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Warriors and many other iconic places.
“Now, we are delighted to offer such encounters once again with new voyages.”
Until 28 March 2024, Australian and New Zealand travellers can save up to AUD$2,000 per couple on the new coastal China itineraries and other river, ocean and expedition voyages in its Explorer Sale.
