Crossing over to the dark side was a surprisingly easy experience for dozens of flyers who were greeted at airport check-in by Kylo Ren & the galaxy’s toughest soldiers, Stormtroopers.
The well-shielded warriors and their villainous leader, Kylo Ren, took a break from building Star Destroyers to help check people in at Sydney Airport as part of a not-so-subtle promo for Disneyland Resort’s new Star Wars-inspired land AND the future release of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.
No complaints though! It’s not every day you get the chance to meet one of the most powerful (and yet most evil) beings in the universe.
Travellers were greeted by the Star Wars characters at Virgin Australia’s Sydney Airport check-in area where they assisted flyers on flight VA1 from Sydney to Los Angeles in the travelling process.
Stormtroopers replaced security guards as they patrolled the area, before R2D2, BB8 and the Resistance Pilots greeted them at the boarding gate with Star Wars-themed snacks.
Shortly after entering lightspeed (err, taking off), Virgin Australia gave all passengers their own lightsaber (!!!!), a Stormtrooper or Yoda pillow AND served a Star Wars-inspired menu.
To top it all off (and share the experience with The Resistance back home), travellers were given one hour of free inflight wi-fi AND one lucky flyer won flights to L.A., five nights accommodation at the Disneyland Resort in California AND access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
