Ahoy Disney fans! DCL unveils name & first details about its next ship

Disney Cruise Line has revealed the first details of its latest ship, the Disney Destiny, at a keel laying ceremony in Germany.

Disney Cruise Line has revealed the first details of its latest ship, the Disney Destiny, at a keel laying ceremony in Germany.

Promising a voyage filled with a “heroes and villains” theme, the new addition to the fleet draws inspiration from the characters (both good and bad) and stories of Disney lore.

Designed around the interplay of light and dark, Disney Cruise Line says its new vessel will take guests on a journey of self-discovery as they encounter heroes and villains from classic Disney tales like “The Lion King”, “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians”.

With the help of the Walt Disney Imagineering teams, the ship’s interior spaces, experiences and entertainment offerings have all been crafted to immerse guests in the world of Disney, where the forces of good and evil collide in epic tales.

During the ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Disney Cruise Line continued a DCL design tradition by also unveiling brand-new filigree artwork on the bow of the Disney Destiny depicting Minnie Mouse in a heroic pose, symbolising the spirit of adventure that awaits onboard.

Set for delivery in 2025, the Disney Destiny is part of Disney Cruise Line’s ambitious expansion plans that include the introduction of the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, the Singapore-based Disney Adventure and the new island destination in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” Disney Cruise Line Senior Vice President and General Manager Sharon Siskie said.

“As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we offer even more ways for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.”

Disney Cruise Line made its Australian debut last year, with the Disney Wonder sailing into Sydney Harbour in arguably the most anticipated event of the Aussie cruise season.
