Agents get ready! Ecuador famils could be coming

Ecuador is stepping up its marketing efforts in Australia, by not only appointing new local representation but by working closer with trade.

And we all know what working closer with trade means – famils!

Overnight, the Ecuador Ministry of Tourism announced the appointment of Aviareps to represent and market the country here in Australia, China and Japan.

Aviareps is well known in the local market for its representation of UNWTO, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority and more.

The appointment comes after Ecuador saw a 12.3 percent increase in international visitors last year to 1.5 million. This contributed around US$1.08 million to the economy.

Of those arrivals, the Australian market grew considerably.

Although Ecuador is relatively known amongst Australians, the Ministry is now looking to amp up its promotion to the market and particularly to trade.

This would mean working closer with agents through new training modules, regular destination and product updates and support industry initiatives.

Peter Power, Aviareps General Manager, told KarryOn he also hopes to run at least one trade famil this year.

More information on the famil will be release in due time alongside a new training module, which is currently in development.

“The Ministry wants to be more active in supporting the industry in promoting the destination.”

“They want to increase numbers into the destination and increase the number of overnight stays.”

Power added that feedback shows that Ecuador is becoming increasingly popular amongst travellers to South America and Ecuador is starting to be referred to as the ‘dream’ destination in the cruise market.

“We believe that once Australians experience the other attractions Ecuador has to offer they will identify it is as more than just the Galapagos.”

Peter Power, Aviareps General Manager

“Ecuador is a culturally diverse destination with a huge variety of landscapes, mountains, jungle experiences wildlife  viewing , sailing, trekking, hot spas, great food, bespoke accommodation, interesting indigenous  populations and a thriving arts market.”
