The Islands of Tahiti has seen a welcome surge in Australian travellers this year with visitation up 186 per cent on 2022. Australia is currently the fifth-largest market for the South Pacific destination and is on track to beat 2019 numbers in 2023.

From January to August 2023, 5,022 Aussies visited The Islands of Tahiti compared to the same period in 2022, which recorded a total of 1,757 Australian travellers.

Tahiti Tourisme ANZ Account Director Caroline Brunel said the rise in Aussies visiting French Polynesia can be attributed to Tahiti Specialist travel agents and the support of wholesalers.

“We’re ecstatic to see this positive trend of more Australian travellers discovering our beautiful island destination,” she said.

“Our success is also thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated wholesalers offering a great variety of packages to The Islands of Tahiti so that more Australians can make the dream of visiting the destination a reality.”
