Check into the world's first airport beach lounge thanks to Branson

Imagine if the airport departure lounge was on a beach and you could check in wearing just your bikini. That dream is about to become a reality.

Imagine if the airport departure lounge was on a beach and you could check in wearing just your bikini. That dream is about to become a reality.

in 2018, Virgin Holidays will replace the endless wait at an uncomfortable airport with sandy toes and salty hair in Barbados.

Wouldn’t you love it if the check-in counter was a bar? This is an airport lounge meeting a beach club and we’re impressed.

Virgin Holidays Departure Beach Barbados

The ‘Departure Beach’ is at a minimal price of US$25 per adult and US$15 per child which is pretty reasonable.

Even more so when you consider that it includes hotel pick up, use of private airline check in and bag drop facilities, and of course, entry to the beach, sated with sun loungers and umbrellas. In addition to the oceanfront vibes, guests are treated to refreshments and lunch.

If you’re too sunburned, you can relax in an air conditioned lounge with a giant plasma TV, drop the kids off in the game room, or you can simply take a shower and relax.

When it’s departure time, Departure Beach will transfer you to the airport terminal, luggage- free, to clear security and board (plastic bags for your bathing suits will be provided).

You must have a Virgin Holidays booking to access the beach, even if you have a Virgin Atlantic flight.

Those booked into the Savannah Beach hotel through Virgin Holidays, and whose Virgin Holidays cruises terminate in Barbados, can also access the Departure Beach for free.

Now that’s our kind of check in.

Would you enjoy the Departure Beach or do you think it’d be too much sandy fuss? Share your thoughts in the comments.
