The much-anticipated Coldplay tour in Australia has prompted a 125 per cent surge in Sydney hotel bookings across the sold-out ‘Music of the Spheres’ concert dates from 6–10 November 2024.
SiteMinder’s data shows Aussies are eager to experience Coldplay live as the popular UK band returns to Australia after playing an exclusive show in Perth last year.
The spike in demand from Coldplay fans has boosted the average daily rate (ADR) at Sydney hotels across the band’s performance dates.
This year, the ADR has jumped by 30 per cent year-on-year, rising from $369.82 to A$481.20 as hotels in Sydney capitalise on this opportunity. The increase in room rates reflects the premium placed on accommodation during this high-demand period.

The data also revealed that Coldplay fans booked much further in advance to secure their Sydney accommodation for the 2024 concerts.
On average, guests booked 192.5 days in advance, a 33.47 per cent increase from last year’s 144.2 days. This extended lead time suggests many guests booked their accommodation only a few months after purchasing their tickets last November.

Despite the sharp rise in bookings, the average length of stay across the band’s performance dates will decrease by 14.91 per cent year-on-year. This suggests the spike was primarily fuelled by concertgoers choosing shorter stays around the event.
Coldplay’s current tour recently made history as the highest-grossing rock tour ever, becoming the first rock tour – and only the second after Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ – to surpass USD$1 billion in revenue.
The ‘Swift Lift’ sent flights and accommodation demand into overdrive across the Asia-Pacific region for the singer’s Melbourne and Sydney concert dates earlier this year.
