More Australians than ever will visit the Cook Islands in 2025 with a predicted 25 per cent jump in numbers compared to this year, thanks to Jetstar increasing its direct Sydney–Rarotonga route to five weekly services between May and October 2025.
With Jetstar adding its fifth weekly seasonal service next year, the Cook Islands can expect to welcome more than 40,000 Australians in 2025.
Currently, Jetstar operates four direct weekly flights from Sydney to Rarotonga, which Cook Islands Tourism General Manager Australasia Graeme West said has seen a spike in Aussies visiting the South Pacific holiday hotspot.
Rarotonga and Aitutaki are the two most-visited islands with many Australians visiting both on holiday.
“We know Australians prefer direct flights and Jetstar has opened our destination up for them, making the trip so very easy,” West said.
Jetstar Executive Manager, Customer Jenn Armor said the Cook Islands has quickly become a popular destination for Aussies after the airline launched direct flights from Sydney to Rarotonga last year.
“To support growing demand for low fares travel to this Pacific Island paradise, we’re proud to launch a fifth weekly service during peak season between May and October next year,” she said.
“It’s the third time we have increased frequency on the route since launch, which is a testament to the strong appeal of the Cook Islands.”
Jetstar currently has a Cook Islands holiday package on sale until 28 October 2024.
