*Spits out food* say what??!!! Oh no you didn’t!

As someone who literally walked the Harbour Bridge last week, I have to know what could possibly top the experience of being surrounded by Sydney’s gorgeous water and seeing its iconic buildings from a completely new perspective.

Well, according to Sports Minister John Eren, Melbourne’s new zip line may be just the thing.

When complete, it will sit 70 metres above the MCG and will see tourists travel around 173-metres from the cricket ground’s scoreboard to the other side of the stadium.

Sounds like a lot of fun, but how can flying across a stadium be compared to slowly walking across the arch of Australia’s most iconic bridge, nay one of the most recognisable bridges in the world?

Melbourne thinks it can top this. zoolander2

The same bridge that has carried the likes of Oprah and her 316 Ultimate Viewers; Ricky Martin; Eva Longoria; Jon Snow from Game of Thrones aka Kit Harington; Matt Damon; Heidi Klum; and the list goes on.

It also gave Ben Stiller the opportunity to pull the ‘Blue Steel’ at a height it has never been taken before; and the place David Hasselhoff chose to propose to his girlfriend.

More importantly, the Sydney Harbour Bridge has been the must-do activity for around three million Australian tourists, including travel representatives from San Francisco who were in town for the Visit USA expos.

The San Fran team and Gate 7 recently walked the iconic bridge.

Of course, a Sports Minister would think an attraction over the cricket ground is more enticing, but NSW Premier Mike Baird said Melbourne would “first need to build a harbour bridge… come to think of it, they will first need to build a harbour” if they want to be compared to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Comparisons aside, the Melbourne attraction has been described as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime experience by Melbourne Cricket Club Chief Stephen Gough and will likely attract a number of tourists, especially the thrill seekers and sports fans.

Do you think a zip-line over the MCG could rival the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb?
