Revered Macanese chef, Palmira Pena is heading to Australia for Taste of Macao Food Month in Sydney. Celebrations will begin with a carnival-style launch on Sunday, October 14.

Palmira was invited by the House of Tong Restaurant at the North Ryde RSL to prepare Macanese dishes and host cooking demonstrations.

Palmira has had an incredible career from Switzerland where she studied to bustling Tokyo where she furthered her career.

Her roots have always been in Macao, her birthplace and much-loved home to her family, where she learned her cooking skills from her father renowned Macao restaurant owner Manuel Pena.

In Sydney, traditional Chinese lion dancers will take centre stage at the launch of Macao Food Month carnival on the Sunday and Monday, from 11am till 5pm.

Everyone is invited to join the FREE family-friendly event at the North Ryde RSL where you can take a Virtual Reality tour of Macao, join in cooking demos and test your racing skills, a Macau Grand Prix simulator.

There will be Chinese music, calligraphy, face painting and balloon twisting to keep families entertained over the two days.

On each day, tasty Macanese canapes, prepared by Palmira and the crew of the House of Tong Restaurant will be served FREE.

Macao Food Month will continue inside the club’s House Tong Restaurant, which will feature a range of Macanese dishes on the menu until mid-November.

Oh, and there are prizes too.

Dine at the restaurant during the month to win a trip for two to Macao including return Xiamen Airlines tickeets and accommodation, valued at $6000. Other prizes include a $3000 Gucci Watch, a Sleep Mart Mattress and 10 House of Tong dining vouchers.
