Hit up Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad & Yoshi (or your closest mates that best suit the roles) because Universal Studios is opening a Super Nintendo World with a full-size Mario Kart race course.
Shut the kart door! Don’t sandbag this or you’ll get major rainbow road rage.
If Tokyo isn’t already in your 2020 travel plans (because you’re not a sports fan and you couldn’t care less that the Olympics are being held there in that year), then add it now because Universal Studios Japan’s $351 million Super Nintendo World will open in a couple of years with an exciting attraction that every mushroom capped fan will want to try.
It’s a full-sized Mario Kart race course.
According to early reports, the race course will be a multi-rider attraction whereby one person will control the drift while other players take charge of weapons and handle power (sounds a little like Disneyland California’s new immersive Millennium Falcon ride).
Karts will run on rails and designers hope it provides adults and children with a mixed thrill and sense of nostalgia.
No doubt it will!
Check out a teaser for Super Nintendo World below:
The Mario Kart race course is just one of many start-of-the-art rides expected to feature in the themed zone, with others taking inspiration from Nintendo’s other popular games.
Characters are also expected to make an appearance throughout the area, along with interactive zones, shops and restaurants.
Until 2020, Mario Kart fans can still get their fix in Japan by hiring a go-kart and racing it (driving it) around Tokyo. Click here for more information.
