Have you wondered what the animals at the aquarium get up to at night? Now you’ll have the unique chance to find out with the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium to open for 24 hours.

This will give guests the rare opportunity to explore both day and night on the reef.

Throughout the night of Tuesday, November 27 and into the morning of Wednesday, November 28, the public is invited to experience the new $5 million Day and Night on the Reef interactive exhibit.

Marine biologists will provide guided tours explaining the behaviours of the 500 sea creatures which will call the exhibit home.

Sea Life Sydney Aquarium’s Curator, Chris Brown, said after seven months of construction, this exciting new Day and Night on the Reef exhibit will provide guests with an insight into the beauty of the reef from dusk until dawn.

“For the first time ever, we’re offering guests the chance to see exactly what the aquarium looks like all through the day and the night. This includes an after dark guided tour through popular exhibits such as Dugong Island and Shark Alley”.

The whole reef changes at night as different characters wake up and begin to become active.

Guests on the night tours will see Whitetip Reef Sharks who patrol as a pack exploring all the nooks and crannies of the reef, looking for food.

There’s also the critically endangered Sawfish, nocturnal creatures that use their amazing adaption, a ‘sharp toothed rostrum’, to dig for food.

Places are limited so fishy fans are recommended to book early! If the tours prove to be popular, the aquarium will look to make this unique experience a more permanent offering. Click here for more.
