Various promotional ingredients have been thrown into the cauldron and the mix has been bubbling for some time, but now we finally know when the Harry Potter potion will be ready.
It was an exciting day for thousands (maybe even millions) of J.K Rowling fans yesterday when Universal Studios Hollywood, with the help of Evanna Lynch aka Luna Lovegood, announced The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open on 7 April 2016.
It should also be an exciting reveal for agents who can now entice Wizarding enthusiasts to choose the USA as their next holiday destination.
The announcement comes more than a year after the attraction was announced for the California theme park, making it the second major Harry Potter-themed attraction in the USA.
Lynch helped illuminate the Wizarding World during yesterday’s big reveal, giving fans a sneak peek of the Hogwarts castle replica.
The ‘recreated’ real-world interpretation of the popular franchise will feature visual landscapes of the fiction and films such as snow-capped roofs.
Fans will be able to walk down cobblestone streets and visit Hogsmeade where merchants will be hard at work, train conductors will welcome new arrivals and pubs will be packed with hungry patrons.
An added element for guests is the land’s signature ride – “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey,” a hyper-realistic 3D-HD attraction where patrons will sport Quidditch-inspired 3D goggles while they venture through journeys with Harry and his friends.
There’s also the family outdoor coaster, “Flight of the Hippogriff™,” which is Universal Studios Hollywood’s first outdoor roller coaster.
A foray through the shops will add to the authenticity of the land with eight retail venues and locations, including Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Owl Post, Zonko’s Joke Shop, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges, Gladrags Wizardwear and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods.
