The Ministry of Health has confirmed that it will be axing its final COVID-19 restrictions with the removal of pre-departure testing and PCR tests upon arrival.
The Ministry of Health and the Airports Authority, Israel have confirmed they will be removing all remaining COVID-19 entry rules, meaning international travellers will be able to visit the destination without showing proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test result.
Passengers landing at Ben Gurion Airport from 11:59 pm on 20 May 2022 will no longer have to take a PCR or antigen test before boarding their flight and or complete a PCR test and isolation on arrival.
This will also be extended to travellers entering by land or sea.
The requirement to wear a mask for incoming and outgoing flights is also set to be cancelled, pending approval by Israel’s parliament.
Once the restrictions are dropped, travellers to the country will still be required to have the following:
- A printed-out incoming passenger form, which must be filled out within 36 hours before flying to Israel. You will need to write your accommodation address on the form, so ensure you’ve booked your hotel or package before departure.
- Health insurance with coverage for treatment of COVID-19.

The Austrian government has also recently announced that it has removed all remaining COVID-19 entry rules, meaning that international travellers can now enter the country without needing to show proof of vaccination, recovery, or a negative test result.
The changes, which came into effect on 16 May, mark Austria’s full international #ArrivalRevival, with its border requirements back to pre-pandemic levels of enforcement.
On the contrary, Spain has announced that it will be extended its current COVID-19 restrictions.
An official border order statement said that the Minister of the Interior will extend all the restrictions that are currently applied to the Spanish external land, sea and air borders by virtue of the recommendations of the Council of the European Union due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19 until 15 June 2022.
