Japan’s international gateway in Osaka has confirmed all flights have been cancelled for today (5 September) as it recovers from flooding caused by Typhoon Jebi.
The strong storm made landfall in Japan yesterday (4 September) afternoon, bringing with it winds of 126km per hour and heavy rainfall, Japan Meteorological Agency reported.
Eight people have been confirmed dead by the severe weather, while dozens of others have been injured.

Buildings sustained mild damage during Typhoon Jebi’s arrival, including Osaka’s international airport which, according to The Sydney Morning Herald, has closed its runways today due to flooding.
In an online statement, the gateway confirmed all flights would be cancelled and access to the airport will also be restricted. However, holidaymakers can use the Bay Shuttle to travel from Kansai Airport to Kobe Airport.

Attractions also experienced damage throughout the storm, including Universal Studios which advised on its website that several planeters and objects were moved.

The studio said it would close the park today for maintanence and ticketholders can request a refund from their Travel Agent. The park is expected to reopen on 6 September.
