Laos set to reopen to fully jabbed travellers in January 2022

The Lao Government has announced its plan to re-open the country to fully vaccinated tourists in January 2022 under what it's calling "Lao Travel Green Zone" program.

The Lao Government has announced its plan to re-open the country to fully vaccinated tourists in January 2022 under what it’s calling “Lao Travel Green Zone” program.

Laos is set to reopen its borders to fully vaccinated travellers under the “Lao Travel Green Zone” program next month.

The program will see Lao capital Vientiane, Vangvieng and Luang Prabang designated as “green zones”.

Areas described as green zones must have a population that is 70-80 percent vaccinated, while 90-95 percent of service providers must also be vaccinated.

This is to ensure the safety of travellers, locals and service providers.

This scheme will allow visitors to book tour packages on the condition that they have a Laos VISA, certificate of entry, a vaccination certificate dated at least 14 days prior to entry, a negative PCR test result for COVID-19 done 72 hours or less before departure.

All travellers will also be required to use an app to track possible exposure to COVID-19 during their stay in Laos.

Full details should be confirmed in the next few days, as well as full details of the LaoSafe approved hotels and transportations programme.
