Over the last year, travel to Greece and beyond in the Mediterranean have skyrocketed to record numbers, according to region specialists Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre (GMTC)

Speaking at the brand’s 2019 brochure launch last night, Managing Director Halina Kubica said 2018 had been the “biggest year for travel to Greece” with a 30 percent increase in bookings compared to the previous year.

Perhaps it was the delicious Greek cuisine, the region’s relaxed, party culture or those new convenient flights to Mykonos and Athens from Qatar Airways and Scoot (respectively) that boosted numbers?!

Whatever it was that drew in record numbers last year; Halina is expecting it to continue attracting record numbers over the next 12 months.

Preparing for a fast-influx of Aussie tourists to the sunny European region, GMTC has released its biggest brochure ever packed with products for the ever-popular Greece as well as Egypt, Croatia, Europe, Italy & Malta, Spain, Dubai, Jordan, Israel and Turkey.

Spread out of 140 pages are traditional tours as well as new exclusive options tailored to small groups of up to 16 guests. These include the 13-day Greek Islands Escorted Tour, five-day Unique Classical Greek Tour, and seven-day Peloponnese Discovery Tour.

Outside of Greece, Halina is particularly excited about the Egypt product, which Halina highlighted as having gained popularity in enquiries in recent years.

“We’re the only Australian tour operator to have a dedicated brochure for Israel and Jordan, and look forward to working with travel consultants to learn and lure more Australians to such beautiful, historical, and culturally-rich countries.”
