The Malaysian Ministry of Health has confirmed that COVID-19 testing for all inbound travellers who are fully vaccinated or under the age of 12 has now been removed.
From 1 May all fully vaccinated travellers, children aged 12 and below, regardless of their vaccination status, and travellers with a history of recovery from COVID-19 within 6 to 60 days of departure, will no longer be required to take a pre-departure RT-PCR test.
They will also not be required to take another test within 24-hours of arrival in Malaysia.
Inbound travellers who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will still need to undergo an RT-PCR test two days before departure as well as a professionally-administered RTK-Ag test within 24 hours upon arrival in Malaysia and observe a five-day quarantine (quarantine exemption is only for those aged 17 and below).
Travel insurance will also not be a prerequisite for international arrivals, but, of course, we would always recommend it.
The new easing of restrictions also goes on to make it optional to wear masks outdoors and check-in before entering premises, as it further eases pandemic measures.
Masks must continue to be worn indoors, including on public transport.

Malaysia fully reopened its borders on April 1, allowing entry without quarantine for visitors vaccinated against COVID-19.
However, fully-vaccinated travellers were required to take a RT-PCR test two days before departure and a professional antigen test within 24 hours of arrival.
But with this no longer being the case, and life being almost back to ‘normal’ in Malaysia, the destination could be a good one to put on your travel wish list for 2022.
