The competition between Australia and New Zealand is heating up, and they’re dragging celebrities into the battle to attract more visitors.

Australia may have Chris Hemsworth promoting the country’s wonders, but New Zealand just nabbed the stunning model, TV personality and actress, Megan Gale, as it’s very own gorgeous ambassador.

Did we say gorgeous? Because she is – have you seen her eyes in real life?

Chris or Megan… it’s so hard to decide who is prettier – equally as hard as deciding which country is more amazing than the other.

Moving on.

The announcement was made in Sydney this morning with Tourism New Zealand saying the country was “ready for more visitors” and Gale was just the beauty to get them there.

Although often referred to as Australian, Gale is the daughter of Maori woman, which Tourism New Zealand GM of Australia, Tony Saunders, said will make her tourism message more authentic.

As part of the arrangement, Gale will be the face of the bureau’s cycling campaign. Footage of her on The Otago Central Rail Trail and The Timber Trail, has been chopped up and edited into two ads.

The videos were shot with cycling Olympic gold medalist Sarah Ulmer, cross country cycling Commonwealth Games silver medalist, Sam Gaze and celebrity chef and writer, Annabel Langnein.

“The connection to New Zealand has always been strong and the opportunity to promote New Zealand as a destination and its Great Rides is incredibly exciting.”

Gale is no stranger to tourism and was recently recruited by Qantas to showcase the airline’s new Domestic Business Lounge in Perth. Click here for more.
