The travel seller and international media discount programme now has well over 700 deals ranging from discounted accommodation to complimentary activities and attractions. These will become fully automated making it easier to use.  The changes come as a follow up to the launch of the new trade website.

Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager Australia Tony Saunders said the Explore New Zealand programme allows travel sellers and media to discover what makes New Zealand special so they can share the knowledge with their clients and audience back home.  “We’re confident that by completing the online training modules before visiting New Zealand travel sellers will improve their ability to sell New Zealand as a destination.”

Changes to the criteria and application process for Explore New Zealand include the introduction of a business card upload process and a unique user ID to replace the physical card normally issued.  For those travel sellers or media who are currently travelling on issued Explore cards will continue to be honoured until there expiry date.

Criteria for travel sellers include:

  •  A resident outside New Zealand, and
  • A frontline travel seller selling New Zealand who has successfully completed 10 of our online training modules prior to applying to register for the Explore New Zealand programme, or
  • A product planner or manager who promotes or contracts New Zealand product
