Oman prepares for Milan expo

The Sultanate of Oman is planning to showcase its ancient history, popular markets and unique culture at Italy’s world fair.

 

This year, the tourist bureau will have a display at Expo Milan 2015 where it will present its ancient traditions and plans for a sustainable future with one of the largest pavilions of the exhibition.

In a collaborative development, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Oman, which commissioned the Pavilion, has joined forces with the Oman Ministry of Tourism and Oman Air, as major partners in the stunning 2,790 square metre showcase.

The pavilion’s theme – Heritage in Harvest: Harnessing the Sea, Sun and Sand – sees it divided into areas that represent water, the oasis, the sea and the traditions, an authentic representation of Oman.

His Excellency Mohsin Khamis Al Balushi , General Commissioner of Oman Pavilion at Expo 2015 and Advisor of the Oman Ministry of Commerce and Industry states: “Expo is an important opportunity to introduce our country, its history, its peculiarities as well as highlight Oman’s interest in many of the topics that gain regional and international concern, in particular those related to the central theme Expo”.

Expectations are high, concludes Al Balushi, who also said that the Expo Milano 2015 event may record a historic success in terms of Italians and International visitors.

Expo Milano 2015 is the Universal Exhibition that Milan, Italy, will host from 1 May to 31 October 2015.

Over this six-month period, Milan will become a global showcase where more than 140 participating countries will show the best of their technology that offers a concrete answer to a vital need: being able to guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the Planet and its equilibrium.

In addition to the exhibitor nations, the Expo also involves international organizations, and expects to welcome over 20 million visitors to its 1.1 million square meters of exhibition area.

Meanwhile, Oman won Best Exhibitor award at Bucket List Expo and is recognised on multiple hot lists for 2015 putting the destination at the very top of Australian travellers’ bucket lists.

The Sultanate of Oman Tourism (Australia & New Zealand) exhibited at the first-ever Bucket List Expo held at the Brisbane Convention Centre over the weekend 21-22 February 2015 and, evident by the level of interest from the public attending, the destination sits firmly at the very top of Australian travellers’ bucket lists.
