Aucklands “Floating Pavilion” was literally rocking for a great industry night with roomsXML, Oman Tourism and Etihad on 18 November, with nearly 100 agents attending the event.

Mark Luckey, MD of roomsXML Asia Pacific said “Good food, good wine and great venue; agents are busy and so if we are asking them to come to our event it will be one worth attending. This one was no exception.

“Good food, good wine and a great venue.”

RoomsXML has been a bit under the radar over the past four years of growing business in New Zealand so it was time to work again with Oman Tourism to put on an event, names to some faces and have a fun night.

“The event was fantastic, solidifying our partnership with our key airline Etihad and hotel wholesaler roomsXML, the biggest supplier for accommodation in Oman with 71 hotels.”

Mona Tannous, Oman Tourism Manager Aust NZ

“The enthusiasm of the agents and partners was incredible with many attendees eager to take their knowledge to the next level with special interest FIT and small group itineraries such as food tours, trekking, game fishing, diving and of course sailing which is becoming one of the fastest growing activities and sports in the Sultanate.

It was the first event that both roomsXML and Oman tourism have collaborated on with Etihad Airways, who were represented by Roshnie Chhiba. The theme could be Oman: where to stay and how to get there.

Etihad previewed the new “Residence Cabins” on the A 380 to a stunned reaction from agents.  Roshnie informed “Etihad Airways have seamless connections from New Zealand, using our code-share partners, Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand via Australia and our hub city Abu Dhabi to Oman.

“New aircraft will operate effective June next year, with the B787 operating direct services from Brisbane to Abu Dhabi and the A380 from Sydney, boasting new cabins in all classes including “The Residence” – the only 3 roomed apartment in the sky”.

Sasha Luckey, roomsXML BDM for Australia New Zealand summarised with “What an amazing event…. Setting sun, blue skies and the Auckland floating Pavilion was the perfect showcase for our first New Zealand event.

“What a great way to meet so many of the agents who I look forward to catching up one on one with over the coming weeks and months.”

Sounds like roomsXML and Oman tourism are in New Zealand to stay.
