Knowing that the city you’re planning to travel to is super safe is a nice feeling. It’s a weight off your mind to know you’re unlikely to be robbed or hassled during your time away.
So where is the safest city in the world? For the second year running it is ABU DHABI!
It has been ranked as the safest city by Numbeo, a website that curates and collates data to develop the world’s largest user-contributed database about cities and countries worldwide.
Abu Dhabi’s clean safety record surpassed more than 300 cities across the world. It’s even safer than our capital city of Canberra which came in as the 20th safest city in case you were wondering.
Not only is the UAE the safest city in the world, but its safety index has jumped from 86.46 points for the first half of last year to 88.26 points during the first six months of this year.
Undersecretary at the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi HE Saif Saeed Ghobash said safety was paramount when choosing a city to visit or live and work in.
“We are proud to be at the top of the list for the second year running,” he said.
“Our capital’s strong reputation for safety and a virtually crime-free society is a testament to the ongoing efforts to establish the Emirate as a destination of distinction with international standards of safety.”
