As of October 1 2022, overseas visitors to Thailand no longer need to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the country, ending the South-East Asian nation’s pandemic restrictions.

In a statement on its website on September 23, TAT said, “The kingdom entered the stage of fully reopening from July 1, 2022, with the removal of the Thailand Pass registration scheme and foreign nationals only be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative ATK test result within 72 hours of travel, this will be lifted from October 1, 2022, onwards.”

In addition, the Thai government approved extending the duration of stay to 45 days (from 30 days) for tourists from countries entitled to visa exemption, including Australia, and 30 days (from 15 days) for those eligible for a Visa on Arrival (VOA).

According to TAT, the new visa rules will be in effect from October 1 2022, until March 31 2023.

Since the pandemic, Thailand has gradually reopened to international tourism, starting in July 2021 with the Phuket Sandbox, Samui Plus and 7+7 Extension programs.

A four-phase reopening timeline followed this from October 2021 to January 2022; earlier this year, the country brought back a Test & Go Thailand Pass program, allowing vaccinated international visitors to travel to any part of the country skip quarantine, which ended on July 1.
